Natalie's interest in nutrition grew from hearing health/diet claims and changing her own diet to more whole foods. The positive results she experienced came as a surprise to her because she thought she was already a “healthy” eater. Natalie felt that trying to understand the science of nutrition was confusing and convoluted, even from someone like her who is a self-proclaimed science nerd. So she decided to become a nutritional therapy practitioner (NTP) to help empower others with the knowledge of how their body works and to provide realistic strategies to help people regain control of their health.
Kristin has been teaching movement-based practices since she received her first yoga teacher training certification in 2011. Shortly after her son, Leo was born in 2021, Kristin decided to open the doors to the Yoga Shack to provide a space where the Alaska community could move, breathe, and relax together. She wanted to expand her mission to those who couldn't make in person classes and began filming online workout videos and hosting challenges through a digital platform. Kristin believes movement modalities are a powerful tool to help us feel empowered and gain both inner and outer strength. Through her teaching, she hopes to share this tool with as many people as possible.
How does the challenge work?
Every Sunday, you’ll receive an email with the week’s nutrition video and a schedule of workout classes. You can watch the videos and complete the workouts at any time that fits your schedule.
You’ll also get a link to an optional weekly Zoom session, where Kristin and Natalie provide live support, answer your questions, and help you work through any challenges that may be getting in the way of your goals.
How will I receive support during the challenge?
You can email questions to Natalie and Kristin at any time during the challenge. The weekly Zoom calls are designed to offer you real time support- whether you need help with your nutrition, motivation, or finding modifications for specific exercises. Natalie and Kristin love problem-solving, so they'll do there best to help you solve and overcome any problem or obstacle you face that may impact your progress.
When will the live Zoom Calls be?
Sessions will be held every Thursday at 5:00 PM (Alaska time) for four weeks.
What if I can't attend the Zoom calls?
No worries. You will be sent a recording of the call that you can access and watch any time.
What are the workouts like?
In total, you'll receive 6 strength-based workouts and an additional 4 pilates/barre classes for a total of 10 work out videos.
Each strength-based workout is 30-40 minutes and incorporates simple, yet effective, full-body moves to leave you feeling strong and confident.
You will also have the option to complete one pilates/barre class in addition to each strength based workout. These classes are dynamic, low impact and will challenge your body in new and fun ways.
What kind of equipment do I need for the challenge?
The strength-based workouts use heavier hand weights (5-20lbs) and optional resistance bands.
The pilates/barre classes use lighter weights (2-5lbs) and optional resistance bands.
What are some of the habits we'll be encouraged to develop during the challenge?
All the suggested habits are completely optional. Some of these suggestions include:
Getting in at least 3 resistance style workouts per/week
Drinking water first thing in the morning & throughout the day
Increasing your daily step count
Abstaining from alcohol and other substances for the duration of the challenge
Eating more whole foods
Paying attention to how food makes you feel
Natalie and Kristin will be there throughout to help you master them!
How long do I have access to the challenge videos?
You will have lifetime access to all the challenge workout, nutrition, and Zoom call recording videos following the completing of the challenge.
